Classic Car Corrosion Repair

Okay, classic cars – rust is an issue unfortunately. We offer a classic car corrosion repair service for cars that don’t require full restorations and are showing signs of localised corrosion, paint oxidisation or micro-blistering.

Below is our step by step corrosion repair we carried out to an early MGB – of course full panel replacements are a preferred repair but more often than not localised repairs can be carried out correctly in a cost effective and timely manner with the method below (hover for a real life example!)

1. Identify Area

The vehicle will require an initial assessment for us to give an estimate for the repair works – unfortunately due to the nature of corrosion repairs we can only estimate the final invoice.

2. Remove Coating

Once the vehicle is in the preparation area the identified area is taken back to its bare state to reveal the extent of corrosion needing repair.

3. Cut Out Corrosion

In order to stop the spread of corrosion the whole identified area is cut away (no patches here), rust has a tendency to spread, the only way to be sure it won’t is to completely remove infected areas.

4. Rust Converter

To safeguard future corrosion and protect metal work behind the works area our zinc based rust converter is applied before new metal repairs are let in.

5. Weld Repairs

Repair panels are fabricated with matching gauge fresh steel, butt-welded in place and linnished off for a seamless repair.

6. Primer & Paint

Epoxy based primers are used to seal the repair panel and prevent future corrosion – the vehicle is now ready for a localised paint repair.
